What is the process of starting CBT therapy?

I offer a free telephone consultation in which you can briefly describe your difficulties, and we can decide together if CBT sounds like the most suitable therapy for you. If you decide that you do want to pursue therapy with me, we will arrange an initial assessment session.

What happens in CBT sessions?

I offer prospective clients an initial assessment session. This provides us with an opportunity to consider whether we proceed with regular CBT sessions. It is just as important that you feel comfortable with your therapist as they feel able to work with you. At the end of the first session, we would arrange to meet for an approximate agreed number of sessions. There is no obligation to attend all the sessions arranged, and you are free to terminate your appointments at any time. A review session takes place at the end of the agreed number of sessions, where we jointly assess progress and what further action, if any, may be needed. If we decide not to work together, I try to provide you with details of alternative practitioners or agencies. Sessions generally last for 60 minutes, and if you are late arriving, we will still need to finish at the same time so as not to delay the next client.

What about confidentiality?

I maintain strict standards of confidentiality, and your data is kept securely.

How many CBT sessions will I need?

Typically, we expect CBT treatment to last between 6 and 20 sessions. However, this varies on a case-to-case basis. I offer prospective clients an initial assessment session, and at the end of this session, we would arrange to meet for an approximate agreed-upon number of sessions. You can review the process at any time if you feel progress is not being made.

Fees

CBT sessions last for 60 minutes, and payment is requested at the end of each session.

Do you offer online CBT sessions?

Yes, I offer online CBT sessions. Sometimes, this can be provided as a complement to face-to-face therapy or as a course of treatment itself. Research has shown that remote CBT therapy can be as effective as traditional face-to-face treatment but allows for more flexibility and convenience.

Cancellation Policy

A notice of 48 hours is required to cancel CBT appointments; otherwise, the full fee is payable.
